I have a second great grandfather was murdered. His story is pretty amazing really. I think he emigrated from Germany not long before the Civil War broke out. He enlisted right after he got married. He ended up running a blacksmith shop and having several children, the youngest of which was my dad’s paternal grandmother. He got murdered when she was only a few years old and they still don’t know who did it.

Do they know why?
