re: #249 Scout
It’s what they do. I know a Republican guy originally from Denver who says at some point — in every single conversation — that he’s a Christian. (“Well, as a Christian, I think ….”) And this guy is totally against affordable health care for low-income people “because we can’t afford it.”
The richest nation in the world can’t afford it. Yeah, right. (And this guy lives in Japan, where we have universal health care, and it works.)
Yeah I know tons of people who love talking about how this nation (US) needs more God and Christianity in it yet they’re the first to complain about “bums”, “moochers”, etc. I’m no theologian but that definitely isn’t what the church teaches and honestly as a grand nephew of a priest, it does disgust me even if I self identify as agnostic because my Dad’s uncle didn’t enter the priesthood for wealth or fame, he entered it because he did feel a spiritual calling and whlie that’s something I wouldn’t want for myself, he didn’t use it the way people like Falwell and others use it fof. He also risked his life in WWII too.
