Do you put a boiled egg in it? My wife taught me that trick, and I now always put a couple of boiled eggs in the middle…and use a veal, beef, pork combo for the meat. Damn…now I need to make a meatloaf. Having rib-eye tonight, but will surprise my wife with a meatloaf early next week.

Raw egg, yes. Boiled egg, no. But I’ve seen it done.

Mom’s meatloaf was classic 3-meat combo as you’ve described. This one was 2 parts 80:20 to one part mild Italian sausage, plus the usual breadcrumbs and eggs and seasonings. I’m thinking of going more Louisiana on the spicing next time. The boys may object, but fuck ‘em - let ‘em make their own, if they don’t like it!
