What’s amazing about the whole Akin debate is most Republicans, at best, will shrug their shoulders and go, “Well, Akin doesn’t represent me.” At best.

You would think that when your party has this kind of unrepentant embrace of religious-fueled ignorance at its core, more conservatives and Republicans would stand up for what’s right. Right in this case is denouncing this man and calling for your fellow Republicans to really rethink where this line of thinking is taking them.

I know I’ve been riding this theme hard all afternoon. I just don’t understand how you can consider yourself a conservative/Republican as well as a human being, and not be sickened by Akin and the people defending him.

I mean, look at some of the conservatives who post here. To the best of my knowledge, we’ve got one “don’t vote for him until he recants.” That’s it.

I just don’t get how people can compartmentalize this stuff.
