Maybe Rand is dumb enough to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the general election. His Civil Rights Act answer suggests a type of boneheaded purity that loses elections.

Other than a fossil like Robert Byrd, is there anyone currently in Congress who would have trouble with the question, “Would you have supported the 1964 Civil Rights Act?”

It may not matter. KY is still a very red state, and blacks make up only 7% of the population. But this isn’t the kind of attention that he should be drawing.

Its not just the blacks, its the whites who don’t want to vote for someone like this ….
