re: #259 Political Atheist

The silliness of the comparison is directly proportionate to the mayhem when abused. The people at Oklahoma city are no less dead.

This actually makes me angry, the attempt to continue this comparison.

Guns aren’t ‘abused’ when they’re used to shoot people. They’re being used for their intended purpose. It is not a misuse of a gun to shoot someone. That is its form and function.

A bomb is also used to kill people. Once you actually have ampho and fuel oil together, yes, you have a bomb. But the truck is not the bomb, the fertilizer is not the bomb, the fuel oil is not the bomb.

So many guns are designed for hunting or target sport. If you saw the video I posted above-Did that look like a human killing machine to you?

Yes, it looks like it could easily kill a human. Do you think it can’t for some reason? I’m not sure how you think ‘hunting’ means that a gun isn’t designed for killing.

To me obsessing on what the designer had in mind at manufacture serves propaganda and blog views more than anything else.

Obsessing? T his is so fucking bizarre. Guns are weapons. That is what they fucking are. They are not something else. They can be used as other things, just as I can take a sword and dance around with it and get exercise, but the purpose of the damn sword is still to kill people. That is the goddamn purpose. It is not obsessing over it to state this accurately, and it is so fucking weird to have you trying to avoid the very, very simple fact:

Guns are weapons.

Again, I support very strong regulations.

What are they?

I do care to keep the least and most powerful guns away from the reckless, the suicidal and the murderous human being.

Any human being, on any day, is capable of becoming suicidal, reckless, and murderous. Or their family member might. We don’t and won’t ever have good enough insight into the mental states of people to base any sort of gun policy off of this.
