Charles’s decision to take on the creationists was a crucial moment. The response here and elsewhere was ferocious, as though he had tossed a stink bomb into a fundamentalist revival meeting. It exposed just how prevalent antiscience was, and is, on the political right.

By any chance can you point to the thread where the initial stink bomb was thrown? That sounds like a flamefest worth reading.

Not sure if this is the first one, but it was certainly a flamefest and drew over 1700 comments.
