I voted strategically for Villaraigosa. I preferred Chiang but want two Dems in the general. Not sure how to feel about how the California top two system calculus affects my decision making. On the one hand Chiang clearly seems like the most likely to continue Brown’s pragmatic fiscal policies, on the other hand he’s polling in third place and freezing out the GOP also just seems like basic civic responsibility.

If Cox (or bigger long shot, Allen) get through to the general, their best case scenarios in the general will be about 40%. That’s what Kashkari did against Brown. So I’m not sure it makes much sense to vote “strategically” given the fact that the only way the general is competitive is if it’s between two Dems.
