Religion can’t be so easily pigeon holed.

I think this is true, simply because the term is so broad and inclusive of almost every dogma people may invent. There is, however, a disturbing manipulation played by a lot of the major religions.

Basically it’s a system where there is some sort of human conduit to “god” to which you are obliged to obey. A systems that encourage people to give up their free will and their personal judgment in exchange for the will of a “spiritual leader” is an apple of potential abuse and corruption just BEGGING to be picked.

Religion is positively overrun with these types of system, enough so to make it an understandable generalization.
