They didn’t imagine that enough people in one or both chambers would side with the president even if he did things that were unconstitutional.

It’s why I think it’s reasonable to point out the vast difference between what firearms were doing in 1787 and what they do now in 2020 when talking about gun legislation. That pisses a lot of people off though.
