Lucky for me, most Indonesians either ignore or channel Irshad Manji when it comes to Muslim women marrying outside the faith. Her Mom was unhappy that I didn’t convert, but since shes in Jakarta and doesn’t speak english, its been ok to deal with. The rest of her family is just fine with me and my weak Episcopalianism.

You mean—there are personal and cultural variations in Islam?
