When I was much younger, I was a member of the now-defunct Socialist Labor Party, and they were adamantly opposed to Soviet-style Communism, whether it was Leninism, Stalinism, or the Trotskyites. They weren’t big fans of Mao Zedong, either, for that matter.

Indeed, leftism is a diverse bunch of people and I’d say the same about rightism which is why I am careful never to liken moderate conservatives or even conservatives as a whole with far right groups like Nazis or fascists.
