You know, I’ve been on a Rome bent in my reading lately. The Patricians really had a thing about anyone who “wasn’t a Roman of the Romans”, meaning anyone whose family wasn’t one of the old aristocratic family.

We seem to have a lot of “newcomers to the political scene” that act like they are “American’s of the American’s”. nouveau riche or nouveau powerful or something.

It’s like they think, I made it this far, therefore, I KNOW how things should be done.

I really just want to throttle people sometimes.

In the good ole days of Rome, when the government needed cash, they would banish or execute their political enemies and seize their goods.
