Okay this is how I view the matter.

No matter what I might use in a fight it’s a weapon.

But only some of the things are actually designed to be weapons. I don’t get why this is hard for you to either simply admit or comprehend. And knives are obviously far more multi-use than guns. There are no common uses to guns other than practice/target shooting and actually shooting things. There are a thousand other uses for knives.

Some knives are designed primarily as weapons. Most knives are designed primarily as tools. Some are designed as both. Some guns may be designed primarily for target shooting, but the vast, huge, overwhelming majority of guns are designed to actually shoot things, as weapons.

If you looked at the video I posted, did the gun appear to be designed for war? Or robbery? Or even police use? it should not, it’s designed to be a hunting and sport gun.

To me, it looked designed to shoot things, and yeah, that includes humans. I have no clue how you can think a gun designed for hunting wouldn’t also be good for shooting people.

That’s how I look at it. The use defines it as anything beyond gun or firearm or rifle or pistol.

Well, aside from the limited number of people who buy guns just to shoot, many people buy guns for ‘self-defense’, which clearly is treating them as weapons. So even if I conceded the ‘use’ thing, to most gun owners, guns are a weapon.

And for most people, they are a weapons they will never need, a weapon that is a risk to them, their loved ones, and others.
