Israel and SA had a deal, and 99.99985 of us will never know exactly what all of it was…but SA got some sort of technology transfer (probably centrifuges and high speed capaciters) SA has plenty of Uranium ore along with rare earth minerals, cobalt and lots of other great stuff you get in mines.

I imagine Israel wanted some of that. So did we. (Cobalt is used in jet engines, for example…)

The nukes were dismantled before Mandela took power, I believe. I may be wrong on that.

The Mirage fighters were French made and sold to many countries by France, not Israel. Israel bought them and so did S. Africa. The Centurion tanks were made by the British and Israel also bought them.

Israel denounced apartheid strongly during the 1960s, but after the Yom Kippur war (1973) countries were pulling away support for Israel. They began selling arms to S. Africa, but nuclear? Israel has been accused of doing so, but there isn’t any proof.
