Whether it’s Pat Leahy’s illness, Ted Kennedy’s brain cancer, RBG’s ailments… a system in which the entire balance of the government over 330 million people can be completely tipped by the health (or lack thereof) of a single one of those 330 million people is just fucking nuts.

Yeah, well, agreed. But it’s the system we’ve got. Since it works pretty well, I can’t see dying on that particular hill.

But YMMV. Any suggestions to improve the existing system would be welcome. It’s a decent discussion topic.
