You don’t have to kill children. At no point is killing children a necessary part of a rebellion.

I have mixed feelings about Turner. He had the courage to lead a rebellion, but he went too far and killed children. But, in his defense, I would argue that he probably lacked “proper moral guidance” at a young age, in addition to witnessing atrocities that most of us can barely imagine.

During war children are sometimes killed. I’m guessing Turner thought he was at war. This is not a justification, but I’m not going to judge Turner in purely black/white terms, as if no aggravating cirumstances existed.
