You can’t buy a beer at 18.
You can’t rent a car unless your 20/21 in most of the US (and some car rental companies put serious restrictions up to age 25).
You can’t get a car license until you’re 16-18 in most of the country.

But you can get a weapon, the explicit purpose for which, is to murder people, with no questions asked.

It’s also nominally easier to buy a gun than it is to get sudafed. Or certain baby formula.

Could you imagine the outrage if there was a gun shortage?
