Put me in the me too crowd. I don’t see how any emergency personnel could, in good conscience, think that it’s ok to NOT try to do anything to help.

It’s a risk/reward determination. We had a fire Thursday up in Bryan/College Station at a chemical facility that made fertilizer. The warehouse was full of ammonium nitrate (Hello Tim McVeigh!). The locals evacuated 85,000 people, going truly apeshit paranoid because of this :

But, you know? I don’t begrudge them their actions. Given history, it was not unreasonable.

As for as the end of the story, they let the fire burn itself out and nothing detonated. Good result.
