I was infuriated. I needed to vent. (I am on the phone to my parents now about this. My step-father served in Vietnam and my mother is a Vietnam-era vet. Both my parents have said they are proud of us.)

If I had been there with you, I would have walked out as well. Unfortunately, I AM NOT known for holding my tongue and would have probably blistered his ass on the way out.
