Think about the type of character you are dealing with. Most of these white nationalist/supremacists types have this whack idea they can take on the government. They see themselves as rugged individuals fighting all the wrongs. That is why so many put on their bad-ass camo costumes and go about looking like militia.

So they for sure celebrate someone like Lee because to them Lee is the ultimate white guy because he fought to keep those slaves in their place and he fought against the big bad US government to do it.

Honor culture in the south. They have been humiliated and won’t stand for it. This is a long term problem. They have not assimilated. They must change the narrative to regain their honor. Goes all the way back to herders in England and Scotland.
