I think it’s a ironic that the historically incredibly-militaristic-and-highl-successful-at-it French have somehow developed a reputation for cowardice, based on the strategic idiocy of a few generals a couple of decades after they lost nearly an entire generation of men fighting a war.

and then went right back to their colonialism and got clobbered in Viet Nam, not to mention their problems in Algeria…the French were way to full of themselves…slow on the uptake, but hardly cowards
