Any time I see a movie that is “based on true events” I basically assume it has almost nothing to do with reality. As long as it is a good movie in it’s own right I don’t hold historical accuracy against them. Unless it is an actual documentary then I will nitpick the shit out of that.
Braveheart simply didn’t have the budget to do Stirling Bridge, which is a shame.
A Bridge Too Far deliberately took things that the British Army did and then had that action portrayed by the American Army in order to appeal to American audiences. I have a much harder time with that than a matter of budget constraints on Braveheart.
