I know. but unless the union’s leadership is put under massive pressure, they won’t budge. Its not about making Chicago convention friendly, its about them keeping control. To accept a giveback of money or power is to admit your weakness and they won’t do that.

Exactly, but I don’t want to say I blame it all on the union. For example, if a vendor wants a case of pop for the convention, it costs $100. A big metal thing (the technical term) of coffee? $125. It’s not surprising, as the guy who owns the catering company is a family friend of the Daley’s. Plenty of blame to go around when it comes to the conventions fleeing to Vegas or Atlanta.
