Rove was one of the first people on the right to criticize the rise of ridiculous anti-Obama rhetoric, and during a heated presidential campaign too.

Karl Rove is politically smart, which is why he goes after rhetoric that goes over the top. The problem is that he’s now dealing with people who brook no opposition, and attack anyone who offers internal criticism as a traitor. Such attitudes are death to a strategist like Rove, which is why he opposes them.
