I remember reading an article about a young German whose father was a mid-level nazi, who converted to Judaism, became an Orthodox Jew and served in the IDF. This was about 20 years ago IIRC and was reported in the Jewish media.

I have to admit, in the midst of the sterile historical narrative about the Holocaust, you kind of miss the fact that a lot of the Nazis had family. Reading that BBC article really brought home to me just how hard it must be to be a living descendant of some of the most evil men to walk the earth.
