It does sound way cool. For all my loathing of the Russian government, I’ve always thought the Transiberian would be a trip. Longest train ride I’ve done was DC to Boston which had some neat scenery.

I took the Amtrak from Flagstaff, AZ to Chicago and back. Trip out was amazing: painted Desert at sunrise, crossing the Rockies at sunset, sleeping through the flatlands in time to wake up to cross the Mississippi and then through amazing rolling Illinois farm country.

The trip back was just the opposite and dead boring, missed all the nice scenery and got almost nothing but endless Great Plains.
