Meh. Don’t be so dramatic. The path to least resistance is the path to least resistance. Showing your ID to a LEO is hardly submission, fascism, communism, etc, or whatever hyperbole the extremes want to believe.

But to a black woman who had previously been suspected of being a prostitute it is not hyperbole, it is her life and her self-esteem and her self-image.

I, as a 55 year old white woman, would give over my ID. If, however, I was treated as if I had done something wrong every time I encountered a LEO, I would react in exactly the same way she did.

At a point, you should not have to expect to be targeted because you’re black, or an immigrant, or a less than well dressed person walking through a well dressed area.

That makes the assumption of guilt concrete for no other reason than skin color or the clothes you wear. And that is wrong.
