What I am getting at isn’t about laws or regulations at all. it is about culture. We are not going to make progress on guns in this country until reasonable gun owners can admit that guns are weapons, and that unless you need them, it is simply a risk to have them in your house.

See they do not have to be thought of as weapons to understand the risk. The far better indication is not within a word of variable meaning, but with the rate of violence and mishap. Those are the far better teachers to us all including gun owners. You look at the risk and call it high, we look at it and find it higher than we would like but not so high as to make gun ownership irresponsible on it’s face. That risk is scaled by us as individuals.

Semantic silliness? Tell it to Merriam Webster, let me know if they agree. I don’t. Nor do I call your point silly.

I apologize for saying your gun views shape your chosen use of the term weapon. AFAIK, the broadening of the term in the media is part of the argument against guns, not a part of the facts. Me, I’ll stick with the context of use.

It’s really time for me to go, my train won’t wait. Nor will dinner. Till next time.
