If it’s as good as advertised, it would be nice to be able to jump from XP straight to 7.

For the record, YOU CAN. Has to be a “Clean Install” though. For VISTA Machines, more like an update on disc. Have run “7” in virtual and like it. Have pre-ordered “7” upgrade for this machine already. Why not? Your credit card doesn’t get charged until it is shipped, at least at the Microsoft Store. As for new computer buyers, Acer/eMachines/Gateway, Asus, Averratec, Dell, HP/Compaq, Sony and Toshiba are participating in the Free “Vista to 7” upgrade program, good thru 1/31/2010. Pre 6/26 purchasers are more limited by time. The $49.95 Home Premium upgrade is only good thru 7/11/2009. Basic Sys Req is a 1Ghz CPU and 1Gb RAM - Double, more or less, those figures and I am sure it will work well for casual users. To use the old Chevy analogy I have used - xp = ‘55, VISTA = ‘58, 7 = ‘64 Chevelle. That is all.
