Not just rural areas.
In many southern states, the demographics are pretty evenly spread throughout the state, whether rural or urban.

But I agree that what may look like more segregation in some areas of the country is a result of demographics, not policy.

And his post did include a link, you included his link in your response.

Did you check out that link? Doesn’t really seem to say much about rates of integration.

The point I was making about demographics is that rural areas in the South have significantly higher black populations than in the rural North. Metro Atlanta and NYC may have roughly comparable black populations, but rural GA and rural NY state do not. A difference which MAY lead to an appearance of segregation in the North that is unfounded.
