Maybe. I see this as simply an extension of behavior that has always infected society. This is a virtual electronic version of the school yard bully, the gossiper in the office, the gabby next store neighbor, the public bulletin board with nasty notes, the backbiting that goes on in social groups, the lies and machinations that people perpertrate among each other…

No, the internet only allows this sort of stuff to be amplified and speeded up. But nothing is new, just scarier.

No- this is beyond gossiping. This is a completely obsessive, pathological fixation. They need help.
