I also think the Friday through weekend Lockup marathons do a lot to turn off the core audience MSNBC attracts on weekdays. That shit is depressing as hell, exploitative and tends to present the prison system from a very authoritarian viewpoint.

I think they do it because it’s so incredibly cheap to produce, they have so much of it in the can already and zombie viewers just let it run in the background between Netflix purchases. Producing actual informative or entertaining alternative programming with cost actual money.
