Roberts flubbed the second line, but obama stepped on the first line by repeating the line before Roberts had finished the line. Obama then flubbed the line by saying ‘faithfully’ after the United States.

When I saw it live, I was expecting Roberts to pause after saying Obama’s name. It seems that is the natural timing that they’ve been using for the oath for the last several Presidents. I’ll have to go back and listen to the oaths from Reagan on and see how they do it. Anyway, I believe he was supposed to pause there but didn’t - and that’s what messed up Obama jumping in.
