There really is a lot of racism coming from the right-wing and the GOP right now. A lot. Far more, far far far far more, than is coming at all from the left and the Democrats. Charles has documented it quite thoroughly. The law in Arizona was co-written by a goddamn white supremacist, for the love of mike.

It’s not that racism from Democrats is harmless, it’s that it is not an organized political tactic on the part of the Democrats at large.

The two possible scenarios are not: Either both parties equally racist OR one party perfect, other party bad. The real situation is that as of right now, the GOP and associated elements on the right are goddamn reveling in their racism, and using it as a conscious, foul, obvious political strategy. The Democrats are not.
