No, his business dealings wouldn’t derail his campaign.

But then again, his every racist/hateful utterance should. And hasn’t.

If anything, it’s endeared himself even more to the GOP. His polling rises each time he says something that should otherwise disqualify him. Repost stuff from white supremacists/Neo Nazis? Five point jump. Just watch. Call for clearly unconstitutional actions, and his polls rise.

It’s not the first time either.

At this point, his business empire/wealth are irrelevant. He’s driving the campaign on sheer hubris and demagoguery.

There’s a frightening number of people who want a straight-talking, no-holds-barred tough guy to be leader. They don’t care if he proposes simplistic answers that have no chance of success. He appeals to their baser natures.

More disturbing is some of these people are perfectly nice otherwise — the kind of person who wouldn’t hurt a fly, much less deport millions of people or shut down mosques. I have two Trumpists in my extended family, and it worries me, because there must be many other Trump supporters just like them. Nice, but not especially bright.
