So I got a call from the local police last night… (That’s a great way to start a story!)

Last week my 18yr old SiL told me the local pd wanted to have a word with her. Short version of her story: Went to big party, laptop turned up missing, cops wanted to talk to everyone there (60 people or so). I had her watch the “Flex your rights” video about dealing with the police and the video from the law professor at the University of Virginia “Never speak to the police”.

Cops called her last night wanting to know when she would be coming in to talk to him and she said “Never”. He responded “Fine, I’ll just put out a warrant. See you in court”. She told him “good luck with that”.

So then the officer called me. I have no idea how he got my number but he wanted me to talk her into coming in to talk to him. I patiently explained he was barking up the wrong tree since I’m the one who told her never speak to the police especially if she hadn’t done anything wrong. He hung up on me. I didn’t even get a chance to yell “Down with the Man!” or anything.
