That was my thought as well. Yeah, I laughed, but the stark reality of it is, that’s exactly what Akin was saying, and it’s exactly what the so-called “pro-life” movement believes about pregnancy and rape.

Yeah, what Akin said is mind-numbingly ignorant, shocking and offensive, but it’s also a viewpoint that has been shaping GOP policy about rape, abortion, and women’s rights for decades.
