Nothing new. ISTR that the NRA helped draft New York’s Sullivan act which was designed more to keep guns out of the hands of the poor & non-white than anything else. Elinor Roosevelt never had a problem getting a carry permit, for example.
I don’t think that’s true. The NRA was generally against gun control laws intended to disarm the poor prior to WWII. The image of gangs depicted in that graphic is a postwar phenomenon. Most of the gangs in the early part of the 20th century were white.
