The reatailer is already the tax collector (state, county, city) and also the tax payer (corporate, individual, social security, etc etc )

There’s no sales tax in Oregon (I’m not there now, but I used to be.) And I have heard that some states pay the retailers for their tax-collecting services. And what about that inefficiency?
