You cannot buy moral behavior.

The US has for decades employed checkbook foreign policy in the hope that aid would encourage more ‘touchy feely’ relations. Of course, that is not the case.

Now, we are a rich nation. I’m not advocating cutting aid from nations that need our help. That said, we ought not be fully funding nations that abuse our largesse.

Some aid, followed by more aid if conditions are met. We are not obligated to fully fund aid for regimes where violence, racism and corruption run rampant.
