Oh, that’s just one of the questions I’d ask.

“He’s slipped away twice before, so what made this time different?”

“The Rolling Stone article says he asked what items would cause problems if he left the base. Why didn’t anybody think to follow up on that question?”

“Did you see this note that he supposedly left? If so, what did it say?”

And, lastly, “Do you think he didn’t deserve to come home?”
