Really, what none of them want to admit is that Reagan was a political opportunist, much like Nixon before him. He was just better at fooling the public into believing he cared about them as he was setting into place tax policies that would eviscerate the middle class for decades to come.

Regardless of whether or not Reagan believed everything he claimed, I think it’s fair to say that even his rightmost statements would put him in danger of RINO categorization today.
