Here’s some info (Wiki):

1. Her name is pronounced “HOH-kull” (as in “Governor HOH-kull”)
2. She has (just IMO) an outstandingly non-outstanding work record as an official.
3. She is likely to be *reasonably* good as a Cuomo’s replacement (til the general election next year, at any rate).
4. (Again, just IMO) if she does end up as Governor, Hochul is likely to be just a place-holder/seat-warmer until/unless the NY Dems come up with an attractive candidate (though Hochul as an “upstater” may be “attractive” enough.).

GOP has counted on running against Cuomo next year. Zeldin and Andrew Giuliani were both counting on this.

Hochul isn’t Cuomo and neither has any meaningful way to deal with it.

Who else could Democrats run? You mean besides AG James herself (which would be ironic since Spitzer was AG before going into the governors mansion, and Cuomo was AG before being governor too.

Cuomo helped push Spitzer and Paterson out…
