Now there is a movie reference I haven’t come across in a while. Amazing how spot-on that flick was and how it’s message is really timeless.

I remember getting in some debates with some folks that thought it was one of the worst movies ever, yet they couldn’t manage to form a real criticism. I guess it came down to two things. 1. Movies are supposed to be all about fun and feeling good even if there is some tear-jerking. 2. Movies fail when they try to make big social statements in such dark ways…or something.

I know a bunch of people who can’t stand Kubrick. I think a lot of it sources to them not wanting movies to challenge them to think (movie watching is pure brain candy to them) and that Kubrick did not do feel-good endings that returned to status quo.
