Oh hey, Virginia is in the news again
How does one propose a “$3.1 billion transportation package” while eliminating gasoline taxes and imposing a $100 fee on alternative fuel vehicles? A lot of fleet vehicles use alternative fuels. Then he says, “It’s meant to compensate for the federal gas tax that those vehicles do not pay.” That won’t change regardless since states can’t change federal gasoline taxes which are currently at 18.4/gal. Is this a bait and switch? Removing state gasoline taxes but using federal funds for the transportation package?
