Hating the president really isn’t new. What does seem new in the age of Obama is the culture of hatred and the lie that not only are the president’s policies merely bad, that he’s implementing them because he hates our country and wants to destroy it.

I just remember how the RWNJ hated Clinton, or rather, the Clintons. I was younger then and maybe a little more sensitive to things, but it was pretty scary, not to mention kind of sickening. Their reaction to Obama isn’t anything knew, IMHO.

[Of course, I frequented many a left blog during the W years and there were some unkind things said there, too, and not everyone was altogether rational all the time. ]

But as I no longer watch cable news or listen to CSPAN radio or watch the Sunday gabfests it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to.
