the politico article on this (Behind Eric Cantor’s Campaign Meltdown) noted that although Cantor was endorsed by the NRA, he shied away from other more fringey gun advocacy groups who robo-called against him in the last three weeks of the primary. Cantor was getting killed on a multitude of issues but I think the main reason he lost is that he wasn’t seen enough in his own district.
