China, Russia veto UN Security Council Resolution on Syria

Sigh, perhaps if we actually had our own house in order I might feel more inclined to support interventionist efforts overseas designed to force others to adopt our ways “or else” (I kinda doubt it, but still, it is a possibility).

When was it decided that we had the right to attack and massively destroy the infrastructure of other countries simply because we don’t like their government? Isn’t it THEIR government and shouldn’t they have the right to determine their own fate as we did ours? Didn’t we spend decades propping up half of these dictatorships we are now attempting to destroy?

I’m scared that someday in the not too distant future we are going to regret this an awful lot for helping to set the precedent that it is ok for the U.N. to use massive and overwhelming armed force against another countries legitimate army in support of armed rebel factions.

That same kind of justification could be turned around and used against us in a heartbeat. Honestly though, I think it would be the height of Irony since we so richly deserve it anyway…
