Lord is pretending the dry cleaner is “threatened by bleeding dye from cheap foreign clothing” when the entire country is wearing clothing made in China, Bangladesh, Mexico, Viet Nam, etc. because it’s more profitable for the retailer.
And any halfway competent dry cleaner can tell the difference between colorfast and non-colorfast cloth.
Much of what has tanked the dry cleaning business is the same as other advances in technology: It is slowly being rendered obsolete by newer technology in fabric manufacture.
There will always be some clothes and cloth that require dry cleaning, but the majority is now Permanent Press. Blame American manufacturers for inventing that.
